H.1359 - An Act relative to late fees for no interest student loans

An Act relative to late fees for no interest student loans will ensure the Commonwealth's student loan borrowers will not pay late fees on those loans during the COVID-19 Pandemic. While borrowers of federal direct loans are not required to make payments on the principal or the interests until after September 30, 2021, borrowers of Massachusetts no interest student loans are still paying late fees. This bill stops late fees from being charged until after December 31, 2021 and refunds any late fees paid since the Commonwealth went into the COVID-19 State of Emergency on March 10, 2020.
